SPLIT WINE COOLING SYSTEMS
Split cooling systems consist of an evaporator unit and a remote condensing unit; they are connected by a liquid line and an insulated suction line. Condensing units can be located away from the wine cellars up to 75 ft to isolate compressor noise and vibration. Split cooling systems are designed to provide a subtle temperature between 50~65 °F for a properly insulated wine cellar. The humidity range of the refrigerated space can be maintained within 50~75% RH. These temperature and humidity ranges are optimized for long term storage of wine like that in natural caves. Multiple options of the air-cooled or water-cooled condensing unit can suit various applications. Split wine cooling units are available for a variety of installations including ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, rack-mounted, or floor mounted. Ducted evaporator units can be used with wine cabinets or wine rooms. Wine-Mate now produces units that go up to 3300 cubic feet in coverage. We offer SSA, SSD, SSH, SSI, SSL, SSO, SSR, SSS, SSV and SSW series. All Wine-Mate units are proudly designed and assembled in the USA.
In addition to the storage of wine, split wine cooling systems can be configured for storing other fine goods such as meat, chocolate, leather, and cigars. Similar to wine, these items are sensitive to temperature and humidity. Incorporating a cooling unit into your storage room will help to protect your investment and prolong the lifespan of your collections.
Types of Split Cooling Units
Wine-Mate produces three main categories of split cooling systems:
- Wine-Mate’s Split Central Ducted Wine Cooling System: a streamlined design that does not require additional space for the exhaust ventilation.
- The Split Low-Profile Wine Cooling System: the evaporator/fan units are installed inside the wine room and can be mounted in multiple locations.
- The Split Ceiling-Mounted Wine Cooling System: the evaporator unit can be mounted on the ceiling in the center of a wine room.
Benefits of a Split Cooling System
There are multiple benefits to owning a cellar cooling system. While a cellar does not necessarily require a cooling unit, not everyone has a cellar in a location that maintains a steady temperature and humidity. The cellar cooling system will maintain the proper humidity and temperature needed to age wine properly. All of Wine-Mate’s units have a digital controller which will allow you to closely monitor the conditions of your cellar. Split systems, in particular, are designed to produce less noise as the condensing unit is placed outside of the wine room. This is ideal if your cellar is anywhere near a space you would like to keep quiet such as a bedroom or office. In addition, a split cooling system is a good option when you have a larger space to cool, too large for a self-contained unit.
